This is Halloween

Happy Halloween!

There are parts of this holiday that I love and others so much.....

Costumes - I love looking at all of the creative costumes that people come up with. My mom's favorite costume she made me was a pumpkin costume.
Candy - Who doesn't like candy!?!
Family - Every year my family and extended family get together and we have hawaiin haystacks for dinner and then my dad and uncles take the kids out for trick o' treating.
The things that I don't like are....

Blood, gore, and really creepy things - I am not going to post a picture, because that seems to conflict with my dislike of such things.

Skeletons- I have hated skeletons from the time I was little. I didn't even see the Pirates of the Caribbean  movie till it had been out for a couple of years. I just really don't like them.... AT ALL!
I REALLY don't like Haunted houses, or basically being scared.

Have a great Halloween!

Roommates!

I am the luckiest girl in the whole world!

True statement. I have the best Roommates. They are all so supportive and caring. I have learned from my roommates that life is better when....

- You can come home to "hello's" and "how was your day?"
- You are running out the door because you are late and your roommates call out "have a good day!"
- Your roommate take the time out of her day to make your bed, because your were running out the door.
- You talk about crazy group Halloween costumes late at night.
- You have random dance parties.
- You laugh so hard you can't breath anymore!

I just met these amazing girls in August and I love them like they are my sisters.

DCs

Hi, I'm Megan....

.... and I am very happy about my new scissors!

I am in a beginners sewing class that I love! I am finishing my first project: Pajama Pants. Starting next week I am making a pencil skirt. Because of this class I had to unearth my 7th grade sewing kit, and I found out my fabric scissors were missing. and then my TA says that we have an opportunity to buy Ginger scissors for only $19.00. For those of you who don't know, Ginger scissors usually cost $40, they are the best sewing scissors you can buy and they come with a lifetime warranty. I am very excited to use them.

Hi, I'm Megan....

....and I would rather watch kid shows.

I think that they are fun and the best part is they are generally clean. Some of the older cartoons are even witty. In my opinion it is better to revert back to old childhood favorite shows rather than chance seeing something awful on one of these new shows. I still have my other favorite shows, i.e, Psych, Castle, I Love Lucy. But sometimes it's just fun to remember the good old times!

"Dork Confessions"

So my friends and I all really like this movie called Sydney White. But one of our favorite parts of the movie are the "Dork Confessions" at the end. We often have our own Dork Confessions when we get together, and it makes us all laugh.

Basically a Dork Confession is something you have done recently of it may even be a habit, that kind of makes you seem like a dork. Here is my latest example, and I plan of keeping small part of this blog dedicated to my own Dork Confessions. Oh, and it is important that you state your name at the beginning and then at the end you say "and I'm a Dork."

Hi, my name is Megan

And I can answer almost any trivia question about any of the Harry Potter Books.

My dentist rented out a theater  for an early showing of the final installment of the Harry Potter movie series, and he gives out tickets to his patients and new patients. He also gives away a pair of tickets to anyone who can answer his Harry Potter trivia questions.

I can answer every question he puts up through Facebook within seconds. I have won 6 tickets with my awesome skills, 4 of which I won for my sister and mom. My mom calls me obsessed, I just liked the books.

My Own Little Recipie

So this is a recipe of my own invention. I think it is really good, and I've had great success when making it for others. So I wanted to share it...

Yellow Chicken w/ Rice

Ingredients:

1 cup of Rice (white)
2 cups of Water

1/2 lb of Chicken Breast
Salt
Pepper
Garlic Powder
1/2 cup of Italian Dressing
2 TBS of Yellow Mustard

*You will want to start the rice about 30 min before you want to start the chicken.

Put the Water in a sauce pan and bring it to a boil. When the water reaches a boil, turn temperature to low and add Rice. Stir the rice in the water until it is evenly distributed, then place lid on the pan and let the rice cook until all of the water is gone.

Alright now we are on to the chicken part-

Cut the Chicken into small cubes, no more than 1 in. Once you have cut the chicken, place in a hot skillet and add Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, and any other spices you might like (for a spicier side of this recipe, add some red pepper.)Cook chicken until you can cut into a larger piece and no longer see a translucent pink color.

Once the Chicken has been fully cooked, reduce heat to low then add the Italian Dressing and the Yellow Mustard and mix well. Serve the chicken over rice.
*The chicken will only have a small amount of sauce, but believe me, a little goes a long way.
Serves 2-3
Total Cook Time 45 min.
Enjoy!

Hunting.....

I have been looking for a job for a little over a month now, and I am really ready to just start working. I have learned a couple of things about myself along this journey:

1. I am really good at keeping eye contact with an interviewer.
2. I talk a lot when I am nervous.
3. it is harder to make a connection with a male interviewer.
4. No matter how hard I try, I will not be able to bend the Lord's will to my own.

Number four has a story behind it, as you probably have guessed. Here's the story.

I got an interview at Allyse's Bridal in the University Mall. I was so excited because I love this store and being able to work there would be the coolest thing ever. The interview went really well, I was able to make a connection with the lady interviewing me. Coming out of the interview I felt peaceful, but I also knew in my heart that I wouldn't get the job.

Well I didn't like that feeling; so I said a prayer first of gratitude, and then to tell my Heavenly Father that I really wanted that job. This kind of prayer continued for the next few days, until I was to receive the decision from the store. I didn't get the job. It made me sad, but I wasn't angry at all. I felt the same peace I had right after the interview. I knew that I would find a job this summer, and it would be even better for me.

So I continue with new faith that I will find the perfect job for me. And to anyone also looking for a job, good luck!

No Limits

I learned something recently that I feel I should share.

I like to look back on the time I was in high school, and for the most part it was amazing. I had some of the best friends in the world, great opportunities, and amazing support from my parents, and teachers.

However, also when I look back I can see all the things I missed. My mom always says, "Hindsight is 20/20." Looking back, there are things that I regret. I have also learned from my mom that we should live without regrets, meaning do all of the things that you know you should, and can do, and be happy with that; and then you can live without the constant thought that you could have done better.

I know now from looking back with my 20/20 vision, that my regrets come from the restrictions I put on myself. No one put them there but me. The restrictions I placed upon myself were my weight and body size. I thought that because I was too big, that I would never be able to do certain things.

I know now that this is not true. Who has the right to tell me that I can't do something; No one. Not even me. No one, not even I know all that I can achieve. The only being that has all knowledge is willing to guide me but even He won't control me and tell me what to do. He still gives me a choice.

So I have decided to live without any more regrets. If I feel the urge to climb a mountain, I will not let anything stop me. I am a Daughter of the Most High God and He believes in me. He also believes in you.

I hope that the things I have learned can help others. Do not limit yourself because of weight, ability, or anything else. Do not let anyone tell you that you can't do something, their opinion does not matter. In reality, you are the only person that completely controls what you will or will not do.

I give to you a challenge, Live without any regrets. Follow what you know is good. Be true to who you are, A Child of the Most High God.

Conference Weekend

I love General Conference! I love the feeling I get after listening to the Apostles and the Prophet. It is such a blessing for me to know that they speak the word of God.

Another thing I love about conference: I get to spend time with my family! I love my mom, my dad, and all three of my little sisters. This weekend I got to help Kenzie and Amanda organize their clothes. It was fun to hear their stories while helping them clean their rooms. They are growing up so fast. To me the most important part was being able to help.

One other thing I love about Conference, my testimony is always strengthened. I know that my Heavenly Father is mindful of me and those I love. He does answer prayers, and concerns. We just need to be willing to ask in faith, and then follow in faith. What a blessing it is to have a Heavenly Father watching over us.

First Post!

Well I have done it! I finally fulfilled my goal of making a blog. It may seem silly that I have a goal for it, but I am honestly excited! Also, a shout out to my friend Marina Woodward, who convinced me to create my blog.

The Title of my blog is "At Last I See the Light." I chose this title because I want to see the light, the good, in my life. I am making some changes in my life and I want to share the great things that happen. I also challenge everyone to see the light in their lives!
